Are you my spirit animal? -- What it takes to be King of Monkey Forest

Kyle Kesterson November 13, 2017

After emerging from a small cave, I stepped into a lush jungle and glanced around into the thick layers of green, trying to spot the wolf. But above me I heard a rustling, and there I saw him. A lone monkey, sitting and staring right back at me.

"Are you my spirit animal?" I ask.

It stares blankly for a moment, then turns and starts running down the length of the tree's branch, leaping out and catching a vine. It swings wildly, then drops down to the jungle floor.

I take off running after it and finally catch up to it a few moments later. As it's now standing in front of me, I begin to speak again, and it just starts thrashing around, stomping its feet, throwing up dust. It's dancing and playing.

The message is clear.

"Get out your head. Stop analyzing. Get into your body. Get primal. Just play."

Ok, I'll get in touch with my inner monkey.
